Employee Feature: Dale Meyer

Introducing our first ever employee spotlight!

Our head Chef, Dale, has been with us since the very beginning, (back when we didn’t even have an in-house kitchen). We couldn’t be more thankful for Dale and the contributions he’s made to help put us on the map.

In the beginning, Dale started working in restaurants for some extra cash outside his forklift/crane operator jobs. He started off as a dishwasher back in 1978 at “Pace Setter”, where he moved on to be a line cook for breakfast and lunch. From there, he worked in the kitchen at Crossroads, a now-closed restaurant located in Grandville. Now, Dale is involved with Meals On Wheels, and delivers meals part time alongside his role at The Bluff.

Dale began working part time with us right when we opened in 1989 and has been churning out delicious options for our guests ever since. His favorite dishes to cook are The Bluff’s traditional, classic recipes.

During prep time, Dale listens to Oldies and 70’s rock, (but don’t get him started on 80’s classic rock).

Outside of work, Dale loves to read and travel. He loves science fiction and fantasy novels and has been to 48 out of 50 states, (we just have to find a way to get him to Hawaii and Alaska). He’s also taken a trip to Belize, where his sister is a missionary school teacher. As the youngest of four sisters and two brothers, Dale has a whole army to cook for when the family gets together.
