Employee Feature: Jayme Bauer

We’re back again for our second employee spotlight! This time, we take a moment to appreciate Jayme, who has been an essential part of The Bluff’s operation since 1992 when she was a sophomore in high school.

Jayme started work as a server catering banquet food to The Bluff from Crossroads, a now-closed restaurant located in Grandville. Jayme’s mom Jan owns the Bluff, and she was excited for the chance to work with family. She continued her involvement as a server for almost ten years, moving into a supervising role after that. Now, Jayme does anything needed to keep things running; setup, scheduling, cleaning, phone-calls, everything!

 

We are so thankful and blessed to have Jayme as a part of our team, and we love having the opportunity to give her a spotlight!

 

What is your favorite part of your job? Are there events that stand out to you as some of your favorites?

My favorite part of the job is being involved as a supervisor. We become close to many of the brides after planning with them so much before the event. These weddings end up being some of my favorites because it feels like I’m celebrating a friend and not a client. It’s one of the best parts of the job.

I love working with family too. My daughters and my mom and Dale, (he’s like family too), all being here makes for a good time. We love doing it all together.

 

How do you think The Bluff is different from its competition in the area?

We have personal service I don’t think everyone offers. Mom (Jan) and I are always at the events overseeing everything and making sure everyone is happy. Getting to know the brides is one of our favorite parts of the job, and I think it really separates us from some of the other larger venues. Our food is fantastic too. After almost every event we are complimented on our menu items, creative dishes and presentation.

 

What’s your favorite menu item?

I love the Pot Roast. A lot of our guests would probably say it’s one of their favorites too. The Potatotini station is great too, and the Asiago chicken.

 

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I have three daughters, so they take up a lot of my time when I’m not here. But when I have free nights I love to go on walks and be outside. I really love going to the beach, sometimes we will rent a B&B on the beach if we have a long weekend. Relaxing nights at home are always welcome though. I do a lot of laundry too, not that I like to do that, but it seems to be what I do most of the time.
